- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to further practice with pronouns "who, that, which".

1/ Warm-up: (10’)
- Let Ss play the game Knowledge Game-short answers.
- Tell Ss to work with another partner to answer the following questions about general understanding.


- Play the game.

- Work in pairs. (The pair with the most correct answers will be the winner.)
* Answers:
1. Kobe
2. Singapore
3. rhinoceros
4. Christopher Columbus
5. Venus
6. buffalo
7. Malaysia
8. water



2/ Exercise: (25’)
- Ask Ss to use relative pronouns "who, which, that" to answer the questions. Start with the words given like the example.
Example:
The city which was struck by a huge earthquake in 1995 in Japan is Kobe.














- Call on some Ss to read their whole sentences.

- Do exercise, then compare the answers with a partner.

* Answers:
b. The country which won the 1995 tiger cup is Singapore.
c. The animal which has one or two horns on its snout is rhinoceros.
d. The explorer who discovered America is Christopher Columbus.
e. The planet which is closest to the earth is Venus.
f. The animal which was chosen to be the logo of SEA games 2003 is the buffalo.
g. The ASEAN country which is divided into 2 regions by the sea is Malaysia.
h. The food which you can chew but you cannot swallow is the chewing gum, and the thing you can swallow but you cannot chew is water.

3/ Consolidation: (8’)
- Ask Ss to fill in the blanks with a correct word.

A. Theory:
1. Relative clause with “who / which / that”:
* Who: dùng thay cho từ quan hệ chỉ người (ex: the boy, the girl, the man, the woman, …) và làm chủ ngữ của mệnh đề quan hệ.
EX: Tom is the boy who plays the guitar.
* Which: dùng thay cho từ quan hệ chỉ vật hay sự việc ở vị trí chủ ngữ và tân ngữ.
EX: My brother works for a company which makes cars.
* That: được dùng thay cho danh từ chỉ người vàvật. THAT có thể dùng thay cho WHO, WHICH trong mệnh đề quan xác (khơng cĩ “,”)
EX: Tom is the boy who plays the guitar, ( Tom is the boy that plays the guitar

* Có hai loại mệnh đề quan hệ:
a- Defining Relative Clause – Mệnh đề quan hệ xác định: là một thành phần của câu; nó xác định cho phía nên cần thiết cho ý nghĩa của câu và không thể bỏ được.
